Winter Bird Walk
Please join us for a 2 – 3 mile walk in two hours (weather and snow cover dependent) at the Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve. However we will drive to the meeting spot which is at the Seneca Meadows Education Center (1977 NYS Route 414 Waterloo, NY 13165) and if snowy enough we will use snowshoes. We will be looking for sub-arctic birds that are wintering in Seneca County, such as Snow Buntings, Northern Shrike, American Tree Sparrows, raptors, and if the ponds are not frozen, waterfowl. Please dress for the conditions as this can be the coldest part of winter. This event is Free(!!) and all ages are welcome, including families with children, groups, and folks from under-represented communities. Also, we will have binoculars to loan out if you don’t have them. Optional: Return to the Seneca Meadows Education Center when we are finished walking for hot chocolate. Please register (required) on the right hand side of this message. For questions and/or more information, please call (315) 539-5089 and leave a detailed message or email to fred.leff@audubon.org a few days before the event.
