Seneca Meadows Education Center Moth Blacklighting

This is a free event (including a spaghetti dinner!!) with Seneca Meadows, Montezuma Audubon Center, Cornell University, and SUNY-ESF.  Come and join us, with special guest Jason Dombroskie, Professor at Cornell University.  The evening will begin with a presentation about moths.  Then we will have dinner, sponsored by Seneca Meadows Inc. and Ciccino’s in Waterloo.  Through UV “blacklighting” we will attract a variety of moths for everyone to enjoy, from tiny leafminers to giant hawkmoths, and teach participants how to document their sightings on iNaturalist, where the data can contribute to conservation.  All ages, individuals, families, groups, and folks from under-served communities are welcome!  The event will begin at the Seneca Meadows Education Center at 1977 NYS Route 414 Waterloo, NY 13165.  We will begin with a presentation and spaghetti dinner at 5:00 PM.  Then we will drive to the Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve and when it turns dark, we will be outside to observe moths and other nocturnal insects.  Please use the right side of this message to register (required by June 20, 2025, so I know how much food to order).  If you have any questions, please email to fred.leff@audubon.org or call (315) 539-5089 and leave a detailed message.  IF THE WEATHER FORECAST IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO BEING OUTSIDE, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED AND A RAIN DATE IS SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 2025, WITH ALL TIMES OF DAY IDENTICAL. FREE REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
