Bird Banding Demo

Location: Seneca Meadows Wetlands Preserve, 1712 Blackbook Road, Seneca Falls, NY 13148
Observe wild birds up close, perhaps even listen to its heartbeat. Bird banding is a scientific tool used to gather data regarding avian population demographics, behavior, movement, and physiology. Fine mesh nets are strategically placed to safely capture the birds. Once captured, a numbered ring is placed on each bird’s right leg.
The banding demonstration will be conducted by Braddock Bay Bird Observatory staff. Attendees will have the opportunity to walk to the nets or wait in the parking lot where all birds will be processed. The event is suitable for all ages and physical abilities.
Birds anticipated being captured include, wrens, sparrows, Common Yellowthroats, Red-winged Blackbirds, bluebirds and swallows.

Kindred Kingdoms, Live Birds of Prey Presentation
