  • Easy Thanksgiving Crafting

  • Winter Solstice Lantern Hike

    Celebrate the longest night of the year with a lantern walk in nature! On our short, peaceful trek, we will learn about the solstice and identify the calls of native and migrating owls.

  • Mulch Day

    Location: Seneca Meadows Landfill, State Route 414, Seneca Falls, NY 13148

    It only comes once a year; a chance for your family to collect some earth nourishing mulch in your pick-up truck or container! We purchase our red and brown mulch from a local vendor, and dole it out to you on a first come, first served basis. Each homeowner gets two scoops! No registration required. Seneca County Residents only. Must bring proof of residency. Cost: FREE

  • Bird Banding Demo

    Saturday, June 8th, 2019 (8:00 AM - 11:00 AM)

    Location: Seneca Meadows Wetlands Preserve, 1712 Blackbook Road, Seneca Falls, NY 13148

    Observe wild birds up close, perhaps even listen to its heartbeat. Bird banding is a scientific tool used to gather data regarding avian population demographics, behavior, movement, and physiology. Fine mesh nets are strategically placed to safely capture the birds. Once captured, a numbered ring is placed on each bird’s right leg.

    The banding demonstration will be conducted by Braddock Bay Bird Observatory staff. Attendees will have the opportunity to walk to the nets or wait in the parking lot where all birds will be processed. The event is suitable for all ages and physical abilities.

    Birds anticipated being captured include, wrens, sparrows, Common Yellowthroats, Red-winged Blackbirds, bluebirds and swallows.

  • Gimme! Coffee

    Partake in a cupping demonstration with Gimme! Coffee as we learn about various nuances in their Fair Trade and Relationship Coffees. Gimme! Coffee’s barista and educator will discuss the threats to global coffee agriculture and actions consumers can take to help. FREE.

  • Welcome Migrating Birds

    Saturday, August 17th, 2019 (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM)

    Location: Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve

    Our preserve is designated an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. Enjoy a walk in our preserve as we look for migrating birds. Share and receive help using various applications like eBird, Merlin and New York State’s Department of Environmental Conservation’s Pocket Ranger. FREE.

  • Natural Body Care Workshop

    Create your own natural body care products in this hands-on workshop. Learn how to make af-fordable products to nourish your health-with minimal packaging and safe ingredients. 15 seats available. $5 materials fee.

  • Sunset Beginning Nature Photography Workshop

    Practice capturing “The Golden Hour” in your nature photos. Share tips with others using various equipment, pose in our nature themed selfie cut-outs and submit your photos for possible inclusion in our crowd-sourced memory game. FREE.
